Everest nor have I ever rescued a remote village in the far reaches of Costa Rica from a rampaging monkey, as such an impressive number of the other more epic profiles may sometimes seem to imply. But I will sometimes mow my 78 year old Dad’s lawn...with token resistance. Ok, maybe if that monkey had a noticeable limp or had been hit by a car and couldn't run very fast ... then ... I would of course do stuff.
What can I say here that doesn't end up sounding somehow trite, a bit too affected and poorly written? We all want a meaningful, lasting, passionate connection free of court judgments and frozen bank accounts. Someone who understands us in a moving way with depth and compassion that no one else can or ever will. Someone with whom you can't wait to come home to. Where do you meet someone like that?
My previous reliance upon the supermarket and Laundromat as an effective mating sanctuary may have been a bit misplaced, although perhaps there's someone waiting for me in the produce section right now and I'm foolishly stuck at this computer. Ok, so maybe Wal-Mart has banned me from 3 of their stores, but that's just a temporary injunction. I never really did care for the unflattering lighting in the frozen foods section anyway.
I'll have to take my chances for now without the benefit of the romantic mist slowly cascading down upon the brown carrots and wilted bib lettuce. Here's a simple shopping list of some of the staples in my cart and the essential food groups that seem to help alleviate cardiac arrest:
I like to stay active and enjoy some of the finer things in life. I enjoy art - You can't go wrong with a good dogs-playing-poker rendition. (Not those pretentious baroque renderings where they're wearing hats. I mean, why would a dog be wearing a hat when he is playing poker? That makes no sense).
I enjoy photography and am well-read at a consistent 6th grade level. I can do unpredictable things with a microwave and pair that with a classic wine selection - One fortified without too much malt liquor goes wonderfully well with beef jerky and tater-tots.
I love to travel. I try to always make time to enjoy the local flavor of a small, enchanting town. Sometimes that may include a little jail time, but it's those unplanned special moments that you always seem to remember most. I stay in good shape. I like to ski, water-ski, play golf, bike ride, and hike. I like to play just about all sports with the exception of perhaps cricket ... and maybe dodge-ball. Ok, so I don't really play four-square anymore since that bench-clearing-lunch-pail-fling-brawl in 77... And alright, maybe hopscotch is out since the school board investigation, but that milk fight behind the swing set wasn't my fault. (A decent 5-year old would have taken responsibility for that blatant foot fault). So maybe I don't play just about all sports, but I'm pretty active for a middle-aged guy. The woman I mesh carts with could be a number of things, none of which I should restrict to my certain, established comfort zones. I have come to realize that my expectations are not always my best guide. True, lasting love cannot always be identified simply and logically upon first sight, although that doesn't mean I haven't certainly tried - She will be smart and honest and have a good heart, the rest will be a surprise ... Forgive me for all the photos. I enjoy taking photos and I can’t seem to visit any place without firing off endless frames. Just be grateful that I didn’t post photos of all the job sites I have been working on... yet. | Age group of a partner: | 23-33 | My perception of an ideal relationship: | I'd like to meet you/ In a timeless placeless place/ Somewhere out of context/ And beyond all consequences. |
