I love the ocean,forest and mountains, fresh air makes me feel alive. Technically speaking, I have sailed to the moon and back with my eyes open.
Spiritually I feel very close to nature and I feel that nature feels very close to me.
I take my electricity from the sun, make my own fresh water from sea water, the wind blows me where it will and I run my engines run on biofuel. I am not a whale licking tree hugger but I strive to live in harmony with the world around me (very few bills- woohoo !).
I have diverse interests and love to learn, I speak some Spanish, Urdu, Irish, a little French (just a little) and even less English. I like reading, writing, cycling, listening to music (I used to play a little guitar (a tiny one, kept it in a matchbox)), computers, motorcycles, boats, travel, ancient history/ philosophy, doggies, photography, the arts and laughter, lots of it. I am interested in anything interesting.
I left school and home at the age of fifteen as I felt drawn to the sea, and so, I educated myself in the school of experience and the university of adversity. I have lived and worked mainly at sea for most of my life and spent time in Africa, America, Asia, Canada, France, Greece, Holland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, UK etc......
Regarding work, I am not a "nine to fiver", I never was and never will be. I am a global deep sea Mariner (Captain), artistic and creative, very well travelled and versed and I spend a lot of time on my own. I live on a boat and not in a house, I like my own company and never get bored. I have a sharp eyes and good ears for listening. I am clean, tidy, kind, independent, sensual, loving, moral, honest and trustworthy, sincere, considerate, content and responsible without being overly judgemental or bossy.
I am a very strong and independent whole person, maybe a little bit rough around the edges but that all adds to the flavour ! I have been told that I have a whacky sense of humour, too long at sea perhaps.
I prefer to cycle from "a" to "b" than drive (except when I go away for a few days on my motorcycle thundering through the mountains of Connemara, only to find myself in the evening poking a campfire with a stick), I love to cook and enjoy fine red wines. I am a very good judge of character, believe in give and take and do not suffer fools gladly. . .
I am tall, sallow skinned, have hazel coloured eyes, am quite fit and between slim and athletic in build, dress in jeans mainly and whatever is clean, comfortable and adapted to the prevailing circumstances. I do scrub up well and shock people when the need arises but I adamantly refuse to be slave to fashion.
If you would like to engage in stimulating, intelligent conversation with a man that does not "over offend" the eye please contact me, who knows what may come of it. I have no trouble in meeting people in the "real" world, I do not date for the sake of dating, I am single and have no children because I do not do things for the sake of doing them, I have not met anyone with whom I wish to start a family, yet???
I am relaxed, content in myself and have no ties whatsoever.
Here is a short passage from "Moby Dick" Hermann Melville, that is very close to my heart:
